Apparently, I can write.

If it’s been a while since you’ve ridden a bike do you wonder if you still can?
It’s been ohhhh about 5 years since I’ve written anything for publication, and admittedly, I cannot tell you I was making a concerted effort at the time, so it’s really not that unusual for me to have wondered if I could still interview and then construct a worthwhile article.
Turns out I can. Whoop! Whoop!
I ripped out two interviews and the two articles in 4 days and got the job for The Haerbinger Magazine as their journalist!
The proudest moment for me in the last few days has not been getting this work done (although I am), it was the moment during the first meeting with the magazine’s editor when he said: “I’m so relieved you can actually write.”
Honestly, it never occurred to me that he would consider I couldn’t. I’m not intending to sound arrogant; it simply didn’t occur to me that I couldn’t write so it never occurred to me that Dave would suggest I couldn’t. It was only after observing his relief that I realised he had original put me in a ‘we’ll wait and see’ category.
Being a new magazine, one whose first print runs early July, I am in a unique position to sink my teeth into a great new project and build my reputation and public profile literally from the ground up.
The magazine has agreed to support anything and everything I envisage for my career to Location Independence so watch this space for links to the articles I write for them.
What’s more they have agreed to support my goal to become Matador Network’s Destination Expert by enabling me to write location specific articles for them and posting them on my matador blog, or vice versa.
It’s hard to believe that this ball started rolling only a few weeks ago but it feels great to be interviewing again. I had forgotten how much I enjoy piecing a story together.
